মিজ আফরোজা খানম (রিতা), এমপি বাংলাদেশ সরকারের বেসামরিক বিমান পরিবহন ও পর্যটন মন্ত্রনালয়ের মাননীয় মন্ত্রী হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন। তিনি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে মুন্নু গ্রুপ অব ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ এঁর চেয়ারম্যান এঁর দায়িত্ব পালনের পাশাপাশি জনকল্যাণমূলক কার্যক্রম, নারী উন্নয়ন, শিক্ষা বিস্তার এবং সামাজিক সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে কাজ করে আসছেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশের একজন আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতি সম্পন্ন বিশিষ্ট সফল ব্যবসায়ী, বিশিষ্ট রাজনীতিবিদ, সমাজসেবী এবং মানিকগঞ্জ -৩ আসনের নির্বাচিত সংসদ সদস্য। জনসেবার প্রতি তার গভীর অঙ্গীকার ও দায়িত্ববোধ তাকে রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক অঙ্গনে একজন সুপরিচিত ব্যক্তিত্ব হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছে।

মানিকগঞ্জের হরিরামপুরে এক সম্ভ্রান্ত মুসলিম পরিবারে ১৯৬২ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন মিজ আফরোজা খানম (রিতা)। তিনি প্রখ্যাত ব্যবসায়ী মরহুম হারুনার রশিদ খান মুন্নু এবং মিসেস হুরন নাহার রশিদ এঁর জ্যেষ্ঠ কন্যা। শিক্ষাজীবনে মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী রিতা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে হিসাববিজ্ঞানে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর সম্পন্ন করার পর পিতার প্রতিষ্ঠিত মুন্নু গ্রুপ অব ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ এর ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক হিসেবে যোগ দেন। একজন সফল ব্যবসায়ী হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালনের পাশাপশি তিনি ন্যায়বিচার প্রতিষ্ঠা, মানবাধিকার রক্ষা এবং সাধারণ মানুষের জীবনমান উন্নয়ন এবং শিক্ষা বিস্তারে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন। তাঁর ব্যবসায়ী কর্মকাণ্ডের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ বাংলাদেশ সরকার ২০০৮ এবং ২০১৫ সালে তাকে সিআইপি হিসেবে মনোনীত করেন। একটি সফল রাজনৈতিক পরিবারে বেড়ে ওঠায় পিতার রাজনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ড এবং পেশাগত জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতা তাকে সমাজের বিভিন্ন সমস্যার সঙ্গে ঘনিষ্ঠভাবে পরিচিত হওয়ার সুযোগ করে দেয় এবং সেখান থেকেই তিনি জনসেবামূলক কর্মকাণ্ডে সক্রিয়ভাবে সম্পৃক্ত হন।

রাজনৈতিক জীবনে আফরোজা খানম (রিতা) দীর্ঘদিন ধরে তৃণমূল পর্যায় থেকে সক্রিয়ভাবে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল (বিএনপি) এর সঙ্গে কাজ করে আসছেন। তাঁর মরহুম পিতা হারুনার রশীদ খান মুন্নু মানিকগঞ্জের জননন্দিত নেতা। তিনি চারবারের নির্বাচিত সংসদ সদস্য এবং বিএনপি সরকারের সাবেক মন্ত্রী। ২০০১ সালে জাতীয় নির্বাচনে তার মরহুম পিতা মানিকগঞ্জ-২ ও ৩ আসনে বিপুল ভোটের ব্যবধানে জয়লাভ করেন। তখন পিতার নির্বাচনী প্রচারনায় প্রধান সমন্বয়কারীর ভূমিকায় অংশ নিয়ে রাজনৈতিক জীবন শুরু করেন। এরপর বিএনপির বিভিন্ন সাংগঠনিক দায়িত্ব পালন এবং জনগণের সঙ্গে নিবিড় যোগাযোগের মাধ্যমে তিনি রাজনৈতিক অঙ্গনে নিজস্ব অবস্থান তৈরি করেন। ২০২৬ সালে ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে তিনি মানিকগঞ্জ-৩ সংসদীয় আসন থেকে রেকর্ড পরিমাণ ভোটের ব্যবধানে জাতীয় সংসদের সদস্য (এমপি) হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হন এবং একই বছরের ১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি বেসামরিক বিমান পরিবহন ও পর্যটন মন্ত্রনালয়ের মাননীয় মন্ত্রীর দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন।

ব্যবসায়ী কর্মকাণ্ডের পাশাপাশি তিনি বিভিন্ন সামাজিক ও উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। বিশেষ করে পিতার প্রতিষ্ঠিত মুন্নু ওয়েলফেয়ার ফাউন্ডেশন, মুন্নু মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল, মুন্নু নার্সিং ইন্সটিটিউট, মুন্নু ইন্টারন্যাশনাল স্কুল এন্ড কলেজ এঁর মাধ্যমে শিক্ষা বিস্তার, স্থানীয় জনগণের জীবনমান উন্নয়ন এবং একটি মানবিক ও সমৃদ্ধ সমাজ গঠনের লক্ষ্যে তিনি নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন।

ব্যক্তিগত জীবনে মিজ আফরোজা খানম (রিতা) তিন পুত্র সন্তানের জননী। পেশাগত ও রাজনৈতিক জীবনের নানাবিধ ব্যস্ততা সত্ত্বেও তিনি পারিবারিক জীবনে একজন স্নেহময়ী মা এবং সহধর্মিণী হিসেবে দায়িত্বশীল ও সফল ভূমিকা পালন করে চলেছেন। পরিবার ও সমাজ—উভয় ক্ষেত্রেই তিনি সমান আন্তরিকতা ও নিষ্ঠার পরিচয় দিয়ে আসছেন। জনসেবা ও মানবকল্যাণকে তিনি তার জীবনের অন্যতম আদর্শ হিসেবে গ্রহণ করেছেন এবং দেশের উন্নয়ন ও মানুষের সার্বিক কল্যাণে নিষ্ঠা, দায়িত্ববোধ ও আন্তরিকতার সঙ্গে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন।

M Rashiduzzaman Millat, the state minister of the ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Government of the people’s republic of Bangladesh, is a distinguished Bangladeshi political leader, entrepreneur, and community figure with more than 35 years of active involvement in national and district-level politics. He served as a Member of Parliament for Jamalpur-1 (Dewanganj–Bakshiganj) from 2001 to 2006 and currently holds the position of Treasurer of the National Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), while also serving as President of Dewanganj Upazila BNP and former President of Jamalpur District BNP. Mr Millat secured a resounding triumph in the 13th parliamentary election, carrying the hopes of Jamalpur-1 to victory and renewing the people’s trust in his steadfast leadership and lifelong service to the nation.

His father, Late Nawab Ali Prodhan, and his mother, Late Rokeya Begum, nurtured him with strong moral values and a deep sense of responsibility from an early age. He completed his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) followed by Master’s degree in Islamic Studies and further strengthened his leadership skills through a Leadership Development Program organized by the National Democratic Institute and the Centre for Governance Studies, focusing on democratic governance and public policy.

Alongside his political career, Mr Millat has over four decades of professional experience in trading, indenting, manufacturing, and marketing of electrical and building construction materials, and he is the Chairman of the Shourav Group of Companies, a diversified business conglomerate engaged in construction, engineering, fisheries, and agro-industries.

Mr Millat is also a life member of the National Geographic Society and Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), and an active member of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Turkey-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry, reflecting his commitment to civic engagement and international cooperation. Married to Sabira Suriya, he is the proud father of three children, and remains dedicated to public service, business leadership, and community development in Bangladesh.
